Biographical/Historical note

Oscar Easley was a carpenter with the Union forces on the Western front, and served Tennessee and Alabama during the Civil War.

Scope and Contents note

The Oscar Easley Letters is a collection of photocopies of letters written by Oscar Easley to his wife, Amy, in Illinois, during the Civil War. The letters range in date from 1862 to 1864. The dates on the letters are: Dec. 22, 1862, Mar. 20, 1863, Aug. 28, 1863, Oct. 27, 1863, Nov. 16, 1863, Dec. 4, 1863, Jan. 15, 1864, Feb 10, 1864, and Jul. 7, 1864.
