The Nancy Dugger manuscripts and papers collection includes manuscripts of her poetry, short stories, and books, mostly written for children and young adults. The collection also includes personal papers and covers dates from circa 1960 to 1985.
Nancy Dugger received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chattanooga in 1925 and earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1953. Dugger had passion for wildlife preservation and belonged to many environmental groups, in addition to authoring manuscripts aimed to educate children about animals. She dies on January 5, 1987 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
