The collection ranges from 1932 to 1979 including teaching material (class notes and exams), papers, manuscripts, and research material and notes of Dr. Culver Smith, history professor, and department chair, at the University of Chattanooga. Includes notes, manuscripts and drafts of his book, Press, Politics and Patronage (University of Georgia Press, 1977). Also material relating to Dr. Smith’s involvement with the local performing arts scene, including the Chattanooga Symphony, the Chattanooga Opera Association.
