The This is Chattanooga: Portrait of a City in Transition is a collaborative project coordinated by University of Tennessee at Chattanooga faculty from the Library and Departments of Computer Science, Art, Social Work, and Anthropology. The project's aim is to examine the evolving nature of Chattanooga and the effects on the city's inhabitants and its infrastructure.

This collection was donated by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduate students, enrolled in Professor Amy Doolittle's Social Work Research course, to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2017.
